The aim of the symposium is to showcase evidence based social work practice, research and education in health.

The symposium will highlight innovation in Social Work practice, how the discipline can influence service delivery in health, and creative ways of integrating Social Work practice.

 The symposium will address:

• The advancement of health care and opportunities for Social Work to respond to this

• The ethical issues relating to the changing face of the health care system; shorter hospital stays, moves towards health care in the home, and the increased reliance on resources such as families and volunteers.

• Increasing institutional resources required against a backdrop of new public management, financial cuts and a mixture of public and private health funding.

This symposium will give participants the opportunity to discuss innovative social work practice and explore opportunities to further integrate practice within a challenging health care environment.
